A New Design, Display, and Style

The latest iPhone SE features the same "iconic design" that Apple first launched in its iPhone 7 series in September 2016. The design is unchanged. The phone is built with an aluminum chassis sandwiched between glass panels on its rear and front. The most notable change comes from the shift to more robust Ceramic Shield glass, ensuring it is less susceptible to cracks. The IP67 certification and the Home button that has a Touch ID scanner, as previously seen in the model, will remain in place.

The design is unchanged, ensuring that the phone has the identical 4.7-inch LCD screen with IPS on the predecessor. The brightness is still at 625 nits. However, it comes with the P3 wide color, Haptic Touch, and True Tone support.

Apple has launched the latest iPhone SE in three colors: Starlight, Midnight, and (PRODUCT)RED. The phone is constructed of recycled materials. It also includes 100% recyclable rare earth components inside the Taptic Engine and audio magnets.

A15 Bionic Chip and 5G

The main feature of the new iPhone SE is the A15 Bionic chip, which was also included in the iPhone 13 series. It comprises a CPU with six cores, a four-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine that can take on any load you can put it through. In the announcement in the Apple Newsroom, Apple claims the latest iPhone can be up to 1.8x quicker than its predecessor, the iPhone 8.

Another significant aspect of the 2022's iPhone SE is the addition of 5G. This means that you won't get the fastest speeds gigabit-plus, as you can see in the marketing material.

Despite the more powerful processor and 5G technology, Apple says the phone will last longer than the previous generation models due to improvements in efficiency. Through its tests, the company discovered that the model could last for two more hours in video playback, which is moreover than it did in the previous model, the SE. Furthermore, the phone can be charged via wired fast charging and Qi wireless charging.

A Better Camera

The brand new iPhone SE features one 12MP f/1.8 camera in the rear capable of recording videos in 4K at 60 frames per second. It's an upgraded sensor that supports Smart HDR 4, Deep Fusion, and Portrait Mode, as well as Photographic Styles. These improvements will result in the camera capturing images with better dynamic range, greater detail in low-light shots, more detailed and accurate skin tones, and much more.

Its video recorder capabilities have been improved by lowering noise levels and achieving a more uniform white balance. The front camera will be a 7MP f2.2 camera that supports Portrait mode and Deep Fusion support.

A few camera-related enhancements can be made possible through the more robust ISP part of the new A15 Bionic chip. It also allows many of iOS 15's Machine-Learning-based features like Live Text to work on the new iPhone SE.

The brand new iPhone SE will be available in 128GB, 64GB, and 256GB storage options. The pre-orders to purchase the device begin on March 11 in the US and the UK, India, Japan, Canada, China, Australia, France, and thirty other countries, with Availability for retail on March 18. It will also be offered without a contract for $429, a $30 increase from the 2020 model.

Although it's not a massive upgrade, it's the most recent iPhone SE is the cheapest iPhone of Apple's line-up to come with 5G and should be a reason to consider it an upgrade for a lot.
