Before making any modifications to the login screen, you may require unlocking the Users and Groups preferences. If this is the case, click your Lock icon located in the lower-left corner of the screen, input your password when asked then select to unlock.

  • Show input menu in the login window: Enabling the Input menu lets users choose the language they would like to select on the Mac before logging in. This is useful when you frequently change between keyboard or language formats.
  • Show password hinting: You can enable the display of password hint information by clicking the question mark or entering your incorrect password three times in the same row. To change or add the password hint, select a user to the left side and choose the password. After that, press the Switch Password button. Set Accessibility Options to Enable in the Login Screen

Press the "lock" button and enter your password to make the change if you need to. Follow these steps:

Select the General tab.

Look for the Show a message if your screen has been locked box, and then click to set The Locked Message.

Input the message you wish to show on the login screen. Click the dialog box that pops up, then click "OK.".

When you next close your screen or boot up your Mac, you'll see the message in the bottom right of your login screen.

Modify Your Profile Image

If you are using the login screen with a list of users, as we mentioned previously, the profile pictures will be displayed over the names. You can modify your profile picture as you wish.

You need to open the Your Apple menu and select Settings to select Users and Groups to change your photo. Then follow the steps below to alter your image:
